Microbia's Precision Engineering group applies
molecular genetics and profiling methods to
rationally design microbes for the efficient
production of commercially valuable metabolites.
Applications include the pharmaceutical, food and
feed ingredient, and specialty chemical
industries, as well as the developing area of
industrial biotechnology. We are located in the
Kendall Sq. area of Cambridge, MA. See
www.microbia.com for more information.

With the recent growth of our business, we are
seeking a Research Associate - Fermentation
Development to join our product-focused project
teams in Precision Engineering. Project teams
integrate the disciplines of microbiology,
genetic engineering, profiling sciences,
fermentation process development, and
bioanalytical chemistry to rapidly develop
microorganisms for biomanufacturing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
o	Operation and maintenance of small scale (2L and 5L) lab fermentors
o	Design and analysis of fermentation experiments
o	Fermentation process development
o	Preparation and analysis of biological samples
o	Microbial strain construction via
molecular biology and classical genetic methods

QUALIFICATIONS:
o	BS or MS in microbiology or biochemical engineering.
o	Hands-on experience working with bacteria
and fungi. Previous experience with small scale
fermentors highly desirable.
o	Strong communication skills and the
willingness and ability to perform as a team
member in a smaller collegial work environment.
