Have you ever ...

- been in an AP class you wished was taught differently?
- been told you your school didn't offer the AP class you wanted to take?
- felt you'd be better at teaching the material than the teacher babbling
in front of the classroom?

Come teach for ESP's Delve program! Right those wrongs and provide
bright high-schoolers with an AP education the way you think it should
be!

Delve is a program run by the Educational Studies Program (the folks
who bring you Splash, SATPrep, HSSP, and more), a volunteer MIT
student-run organization. Delve's purpose is to reach out to the
greater Boston high school community and offer motivated students a
chance to take a CollegeBoard Advanced Placement (AP) class their
school might not offer, taught by MIT students, to challenge
themselves academically in a supportive environment and possibly earn
future college credit. Student tuition is low, and financial
assistance is always available.

You may teach *any* AP subject the CollegeBoard offers! (In 2005-2006,
Delve offered AP classes in Calculus AB, Chemistry, Art History,
Biology, Physics, Microeconomics, and US Government and Politics;
there are over 35 subjects available.) You will have complete freedom
in crafting your own syllabus to best fit your style and the needs of
your students. Also, you will have a co-teacher to share the
responsibility equally (we can help you find a co-teacher if you don't
have one already), and plenty of suggested curriculum materials to
help you develop class content and homework.

Teaching for Delve is a rewarding experience, but also an important
responsibility. Classes run weekly on MIT's campus from 1:30-5:00pm
for 30 Sundays over the academic year (excluding Thanksgiving and
winter break), from early September until the AP exams in May. Because
students will depend on you for their preparation, you will need to
commit to the entire session (though for emergencies or occasional
other commitments, you can work things out with your co-teacher on a
week-by-week basis). Teaching is a volunteer position, but in the past
we've given honorariums of up to $400.
