Biology Colloquium
Monday, January 30, 2006
Dr. David Kimelman
University of Washington
"Fish Tails and Fish Buns: The Importance of Bmp Signaling"
32-123 Stata Center Auditorium
4pm (refreshments at 3:30)
Hosted by Dr. Hazel Sive

Dr. Kimelman is a 1990 Searle Scholar, he got his
PhD from Harvard in 1989 and is currently a
professor of Biochemistry and Zoology at the
University of Washington. Dr. Kimelman's
laboratory focuses on the role of intercellular
signaling in the early developing vertebrate
embryo, specifically focusing on the frog and
zebrafish embryos. The work ranges from
biochemical studies aimed at understanding the
proteins involved in the intracellular signaling
pathways to genetic studies aimed at
understanding how these signals function to
create embryonic structures.
