THINKING ABOUT GRADUATE OR MEDICAL SCHOOL?
The Center for Neuroimaging in Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease is
actively recruiting Research Technicians to support ongoing research.
The Center is located in Boston, a part of Massachusetts General
Hospital, and focuses on exploiting the capabilities of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging to establish novel biomarkers in aging and diseased
brains and to elucidate the neuropathology of neurodegenerative
diseases such as Huntington's and Alzheimer's. These positions are
particularly well-suited for candidates considering graduate studies,
especially in neurology, cognitive neuroscience, or medicine, but
desiring first an opportunity to do some hands-on, cutting-edge
research.
RESEARCH TECHNICIAN
Responsibilities:
Data collection and analysis using in-house data processing tools
(primarily Linux-based); data will include anatomical, neurochemical,
and functional MRI.
Subject recruitment and testing (will involve some patient interaction)
Documentation of methods and results for incorporation into grant
proposals and research publications
Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical discipline is required
- A moderate degree of computer literacy is necessary
Desired:
- Responsible, hard-working individual who is able to
multi-task and to work independently
- Some programming experience
- Some exposure to signal or image processing applications or
algorithms a plus
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems
Candidates willing to make a two year commitment are preferred.
