ADDGENE
Lab Technician Summer Intern
8-12 weeks with a start date in early June. 40 hours per week, at $10 per
hour.

Company Description
Addgene is a non-profit company that facilitates biomedical research and
discovery. Addgene assists academic scientists by archiving their plasmid
DNA samples and distributing the samples to researchers who need them for
future experiments. Availability of these materials is critical to the
progress of research. Addgene was founded in January 2004 by graduates from
Harvard and MIT. Addgene's service has received strong support from the
academic community, and the company is growing rapidly.
Job Qualifications
Addgene is looking for an undergraduate biology major to help replicate our
plasmid collection. Necessary qualifications include: Experience in a
laboratory environment. Comfortable with pipetting, using the sterile
technique, and planning experiments. Preferably an undergraduate student
majoring in biology, or another life science, and completing their sophomore
or junior year.
Job Description
Aid in the high-throughput replication of Addgene's plasmid collection.
Duties will include performing LB and plate preparation, working closely
with our scientists to plan the replication, and learning to operate a
biological robot to carry out some of the replication steps. This job is a
great experience for an undergraduate student to learn high-throughput
biology techniques and to get exposure to working in a start-up company.
