Job Title: Summer Undergrad Intern
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
Summary
Amgen is seeking a highly talented individual to
join our Forecasting/Marketing Analysis
Department as a summer intern. The intern will be
working as a member of one of our Forecasting or
Marketing Analysis teams, focused on a specific
10-12 week assignment addressing a current
business need and offering the opportunity to
apply their business skills and experience.
Interns will use data to make key strategic
recommendations to senior management. As such,
they will need both solid analytical skills to
conduct analysis, as well as solid communication
skills to translate their results into strategic
recommendations for the company.
Job Specifications
The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the
duties of this position are typically acquired
through the following combination of education
and experience or the equivalent.
Education:
Prospective candidates will be on track to
complete their BS/BA or MS/MA in the summer of
2006. Breadth of coursework in a discipline that
emphasize building strong analytical /
problem-solving skills (e.g., Economics,
Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, hard
sciences or related disciplines) is required.
Please note GPA, any relevant test scores, and
any campus leadership experience when applying.
Experience:
Any programming experience (particularly with
SAS) is a plus but is not required. Experience
with statistics (particularly with regression
analysis) is a plus but is not required.
Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health care
industry experience is a plus but is not
required. Previous consulting, forecasting or
business analysis experience is a plus, but not
required.
Skills Required:
Strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data
Strong oral and written communication skills
and interpersonal skills - candidate will be
expected to be able to present in front of senior
management
Demonstrated personal initiative and self-motivation
Ability to work in a team
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
