Research Fellow in Prof. Vernon Ingram's lab

Description of position and research work-

We are working in the Ingram lab to develop a therapy for
Huntington's Disease. This is an inherited neurodegenerative disorder
that affects adults. The mutated Huntington protein forms toxic
fibers in the brain. We are screening libraries for compounds that
will decrease or eliminate the toxic effect caused by the aggregation
of the mutant Huntington's Disease protein. We are doing laboratory
research, but with cells, not with animals. The work involves
biochemical and molecular biology research techniques.

Qualifications
A strong undergraduate degree and/or master's degree in chemistry,
biology, or biochemistry is required; experience in laboratory
research work is essential; must be able to use PC and Mac desktop
computers; good writing skills an advantage.
