> In 2016 NASA's Juno spacecraft will begin making high fidelity gravity and magnetic measurements near the surface of Jupiter that will provide clues to Jupiter's internal structure and dynamics. Juno will get to 5000 km of Jupiter's surface at perijove during its 33, highly eccentric, 11-day polar orbits. To prepare for the interpretation of the data Juno will collect, we are producing 3D dynamo simulations that self-consistently solve for the gravity and magnetic fields throughout the interior and exterior of our simulated gas giant. The simulated zonal winds at the surface are strongest and prograde in the equatorial region, as they are on Jupiter. Their amplitudes decrease with depth faster than predicted by many "deep" convection models but more slowly than predicted by "shallow" atmospheric models. The magnetic field and the non-hydrostatic contribution to the gravity field in our simulation have latitudinally banded structures in the equatorial region at perijove. A similar banded structure in the gravity field seen by Juno would suggest that the strong zonal winds observed on Jupiter extend far enough below the surface to produce sufficient density perturbations to influence Jupiter's gravity field at perijove. Likewise, a banded structure in the magnetic field measured by Juno would suggest that these winds extend far enough below the surface to where the electrical conductivity is high enough for winds there to influence the structure of Jupiter's magnetic field at perijove. On the other hand, no banded structures detected by Juno would suggest that the zonal winds on Jupiter are shallow surface features.
