BU is trying to recruit applicants to its Astronomy PhD program. I would 
be very grateful if you could distribute this message to any of your 
PhD-bound undergraduates with interests in astronomy, space physics, or 
planetary science.

We wanted to send you a note to advertise our graduate program in 
Astronomy at Boston University (BU).  We would appreciate if you would 
forward this to any of your undergraduates who are applying for graduate 
school this year.

Our program consists of a vibrant collection of students, professors and 
researchers who are at the forefront of a variety of research areas that 
include, space physics, observational and theoretical astrophysics, 
planetary science, instrumentation, and solar physics.  I encourage you 
to visit our website (http://www.bu.edu/astronomy/), where you can learn 
about much more about the specific projects/programs that are currently 
being executed by our faculty and students.

We are also excited to report that BU recently entered a new partnership 
with Lowell Observatory and starting next year will have guaranteed time 
on the 4.3m Discovery Channel Telescope!

BU is located in the heart of Boston (on the shores of the Charles 
River), an exciting urban area where students have access to a variety 
of cultural, gastronomical, and athletic events outside the academic 
arena.   Our department also provides a number of social events 
throughout the year including (but not limited to) weekly, informal 
discussions with our seminar speakers at the BU Pub, weekly pizza after 
journal club, and “Unplugged” and “The Soiree”, which are musical events 
featuring performances by our faculty, students, and staff.

Our graduate applications are processed through the Boston University

on January 15.  If you or your students have any questions about our
