Subject: Tony Irving seminar on early planetary differentiation
All ,
Tony Irving, a meteoriticist at the University of Washington, will be
visiting
MIT next Tuesday and Wednesday September 9 and 10.
On Tuesday Sept.9 at 4 pm in MIT building 54 room 813 (8th floor),
he will give a 1 hour talk titled "Forensic Reconstruction of Former
Differentiated Bodies in the Early Solar System"
He plans to talk about the tools used to establish affinities among the
growing
numbers of different achondritic and chondritic meteorites, and speculate on
the former presence of "dozens" of such bodies in the inner solar system
before
they were disaggregated in large collisions.
