THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13

*4:00 pm:* CfA Colloquium <http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/colloquia/>.
"Formation and Evolution of Planets and Debris Disks," Dr. Scott Kenyon,
CfA. Preceded by tea at 3:30 pm. Phillips Auditorium.

*Abstract:* There are now more than 1000 known planetary systems. Most
planetary systems are discovered as debris disks, the dusty remnants of
newly-formed icy or terrestrial planets. After summarizing basic
observations, I will describe numerical simulations for the formation of
planetary systems. Results from these models account for many fundamental
aspects of the data and suggest a set of critical observations for future
ground-based and space-based missions.
