12 noon: Solar, Stellar, and Planetary Sciences Division Seminar. "Giant
Planet Migration," Dr. Richard Edgar, University of Rochester. Pratt
Conference Room.
Abstract: Most extra-solar planets are thought to have migrated to their
present orbits via Type II migration (locking to a viscous disc). By
comparison with Type I migration (differential Lindblad torques), this
process has been little studied. I shall present results from the first
systematic test of Type II theory.
Thursday, October 26
4:00 pm: Colloquium. "Detection of Low-Mass Extrasolar Planets by
Gravitational Microlensing," Dr. David Bennett, University of Notre Dame.
Phillips Auditorium.
