Operating Guidelines
The ASA Executive Board has voted in favor of modifications to our Operating Guidelines. If you have any concerns about this change, please reach out to us! Student organizations have the right to veto this change either by submitting a petition to the ASA Executive Board <asa-exec at mit.edu<mailto:asa-exec at mit.edu>> signed by the presidents or treasurers of ⅓ of ASA-recognized groups or by a vote at the next General Body Meeting.

"Article IV: ASA Executive Board
Section 1. Meetings
Add: Quorum for conducting business at an Executive Board meeting will be ⅔ of the current voting membership of the board. If the GSC or UA representative is not present, then their vote is recorded as an abstention. Quorum shall be checked by summing the votes for, against, and abstaining from a motion. A simple majority vote shall mean that the number of votes for a motion to pass is higher than the number of votes against. In the case of a tie, the President shall have a casting vote, in addition to the deliberative vote. A two-third majority vote shall mean that the number of members voting for a motion to pass is greater than or equal to twice the number of members voting against a motion.

Unless otherwise stated, all votes taken by the Board will be to the standard of a simple majority vote."

Please feel free to email <asa-exec at mit.edu<mailto:asa-exec at mit.edu>> with any requests, questions, or other inquiries.

Sincerely,
The ASA Executive Board
