(1) Fall Activities Midway Application (due 8/28/2015)

The application for a booth and performance at the Orientation Activities
Midway can be found at <
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1h01PkA32CXrO_eXO4Sph-LRSa3tvmaPaA4OgzF0V0rI/viewform>.

Applications are due on August 28th at 11:59 PM EDT. The Midway will take
place from 2:30-4:30PM on Friday, September 4, 2015, during Orientation.
Note that this year’s Midway will be in the Johnson Ice Rink.

For more information, see <http://web.mit.edu/asa/publicity/midway.html> or
email us at <asa-midway at mit.edu>.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(2) Recruitment Rules Reminder

The ASA Recruitment Rules will be unchanged from last year; there will
again be no recruitment moratorium, although other rules may still apply,
including MIT’s harassment policies, ASA postering rules, and rules from
other governing bodies such as the Panhellenic Association and Club Sports
Council.

We encourage you to carefully read the full text, which is on our website
at <http://web.mit.edu/asa/rules/recruitment-rules.html> which governs how
student groups may recruit incoming undergraduate and graduate students..

If you have any questions about or feedback on the recruitment rules,
please email <asa-exec at mit.edu>.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(3) First Year Summer Mailing

The First Year Summer Mailing list deadline has passed. It is a great
opportunity to reach out to the incoming freshmen and first-year grad
students. Incoming students will be sent a link to all of the submitted
entries before they arrive on campus to virtually explore the student
groups on campus. Students will begin receiving the mailing within the week
if you have submitted an entry. If you have questions or concerns about the
First Year Summer Mailing, please email <asa-fysm at mit.edu>.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(4) Early Returns

ASA Early Returns were sent out in the beginning of July. If you haven’t
received an email saying you received an early return from ASA, you did not
receive one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(5) LEF-ARCADE Extended Late Application (Due 8/22/15)

Due to the Finboard cuts, the deadline to submit late applications to the
Large Event Fund (LEF) and the Assisting Recurring Cultural And Diversity
Events (ARCADE) has been extended to 8/22/2015 at 11:59PM EDT. This
extended deadline is for events occurring until September 30, 2015.
Allocations should be released by August 29th. The application and more
information about the funds are available online: <
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/large-events.html>.

You are encouraged to meet with someone from the Student Activities Office
to discuss your application, particularly if it is for a new event or you
are making substantial changes to your event. You MUST meet with the
Student Activities Office to discuss an event if it will involve paying a
speaker or performer. You can contact Joel Pettigrew, <joelp at mit.edu>,
about scheduling an appointment.

You are also strongly encouraged to meet with the LEF/ARCADE board members
before submitting your application by scheduling an appointment with us
(contact the ASA Treasurer, <asa-treasurer at mit.edu>).

(6) Message from Career Services

Fall Career Fair Week Expectations

If you are interested in organizing any events involving employers or
companies during the week of the Fall Career Fair, you will be expected to
first communicate directly with the Fall Career Fair Committee and/or GECD
Career Services (per the Deans' Fall Career Fair Agreement sent out earlier
this summer). Please reach out to Fall Career Fair leadership at least 4
weeks in advance before the fair by emailing them at cf-directors at mit.edu
and cf-logistics at mit.edu to discuss the potential of holding an event.
Please do not make any commitments to Employers or Vendors until your event
has been approved to take place the week of the Fall Career Fair. There are
no exceptions to this rule as there are multiple employer events occurring
during this time, and we are trying to organize employer events effectively
and reduce conflict in events. Please feel free to contact
cf-directors at mit.edu for any questions.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please feel free to email <asa-exec at mit.edu> with any requests, questions,
or other inquiries.

Sincerely,

The ASA Executive Board
