Dear Student Group Officers,

Please take note of the following announcements:

1. New student group office lock policy
2. Cleanout of CAC spaces this Wednesday, June 20
3. First-Year Summer Mailing (deadline June 26)
4. Orientation Activities Midway requests (deadline August 10)
5. Vacancies on the ASA Executive Board

----------------------------------

1. New student group office lock policy

The ASA has worked with the CAC to update and improve the office lock
policy. The main change makes it possible for a group to obtain "blank"
cards -- not associated with any individual -- for access to its office.
This can be used as a more secure alternative to combos, by signing out a
card for short-term access. Other changes include clarifying the process
for requesting updates to office access.

The new lock policy is posted at:
http://mit.edu/asa/resources/pdf/lockpolicy7-18-11.pdf

----------------------------------

2. Cleanout of CAC spaces this Wednesday, June 20

The CAC is organizing a clean out of the Student Center and of Walker
Memorial for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 20. If your student group has
space in one of these two buildings, and has any large items you want to
discard (tables, chairs, computers, books, unclaimed reuse piles, etc.),
please bring them to the basement of your building by Wednesday morning.
W20 groups should bring items outside W20-015, and Walker groups to the
basement hallway towards the back of the building. If they are too large
for you to move to the basement, please place them outside your office and
label them as trash.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or CAC
(campus-activities at mit.edu).

----------------------------------

3. First-Year Summer Mailing

First-Year Summer Mailing publicity will start going out next week, so you
still have time to update or create an entry for your group if you missed
the June deadline. The Summer Mailing is a website advertised to incoming
graduate and undergraduate students. Each group can submit a slide, a
short description, and a link to their website.

More information and the submission form can be found at
http://web.mit.edu/asa/publicity/summer-mailing.html

Please contact asa-fysm at mit.edu with any troubles or questions regarding
the submission form or FYSM in general.

----------------------------------

4. Orientation Activities Midway requests (deadline August 10)

As a reminder, requests for booth or performance space at the Activities
Midway are due by Wednesday, August 10, at 11:59 PM.

The Activities Midway is the primary fall recruiting event for ASA groups
and is a part of both undergraduate and graduate student Orientation. The
Midway will be held on Friday, September 2nd, from 4-6:30pm. Groups can
requests booth space and performance time for this event.

More information and the request form are available at:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/publicity/midway.html

----------------------------------

5. Vacancies on the ASA Executive Board

We are still in the process of filling the ASA treasurer and student
member-at-large positions. Appointments for these positions will last
until an election at the fall general body meeting. If you are interested
in either of these positions, please email asa-president at mit.edu stating
which position(s) you are interested in, why you are interested, why you
think you are qualified, and which student groups you are involved with.
You can also email with any questions.

----------------------------------

Please feel free to email asa-exec at mit.edu with any requests, questions,
or other inquiries.

Sincerely,
The ASA Executive Board
