[ASA-Official] ASA GBM tonight, 7:30-9:30 in 32-123; ASA executive board elections and more

Keone Hon (ASA President) asa-president at MIT.EDU
Thu Feb 18 11:46:07 EST 2010

Dear Student Group Officers,

Please take note of the following announcements.

1. GBM REMINDER
This is a reminder that the ASA General Body Meeting will be held
today (Feb 18) from 7:30 pm - 9 pm in 32-123. Note the location
change compared to previous terms.

Check-in and snacks will begin at 7 pm. All ASA-recognized groups are
required to send a representative unless otherwise specified.

The main topic for the meeting will be a special election to elect two
new members of the ASA. In particular, the agenda will be as follows:

announcements:
* Small activities office cleanout
* Infinite corridor postering
* CPW events for admissions
* Haiti relief interest groups
* ASA executive board confirmation/elections

As per the ASA operating guidelines, following the resignations of two
members of the ASA boards, Keone Hon '11 (formerly ASA Treasurer)
assumed the role of ASA President. Vacancies in the positions of ASA
Treasurer and ASA Secretary are currently being filled by ASA board
members Nicole Teague '11 (currently Undergraduate Member-at-Large)
and Rebecca Krentz-Wee '12 (currently UA Representative to ASA), who
were appointed by the president as specified by the operating
guidelines. These three changes have been ratified by the ASA Executive
Board; they must now be confirmed by the General Body in
order to take permanent effect.

Following the confirmation discussion and vote, the General Body will
elect 1-3 (depending on the outcome of the confirmations)
members to positions on the ASA Board. Student leaders who are
interested in running should be present at the meeting and should be
prepared to put themselves forward. Due to uncertainty in which
positions are open, candidates will be asked to deliver a strictly
oral platform; no visuals should be prepared.

2. CPW MIDWAY PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY

The activities midway will be held during CPW as usual. Please expect
details coming soon.

As a point of clarification, the activities midway (held during the
day) is intended to allow student groups to make themselves known to
prospective students and is different from the CPW Festival (see
below; held at night) which is intended to provide a few fun
activities for prospective students to take part in at the Festival.

3. SIGN UP FOR CPW FESTIVAL

Do you remember your first Campus Preview Weekend? Want your
organization to be part of the fun?!

Have a really cool idea that will get prefrosh excited to come to MIT?

Sign-up for the CPW Welcome Festival!

This is your organization's chance to interact with MIT's newest

We will be looking for groups that are hosting "active" events, events
where prefrosh do stuff, play stuff, eat stuff, drink stuff, and watch
stuff!

The festival will be occurring Thursday, April 8th from 9:30pm to
midnight in the Johnson Athletic Center.

Sign up for your organization today! The Deadline to apply is March 5.
