Dear Student Groups,

Please take note of the following announcements, with details included below:

1. Request a booth at the Orientation Midway
2. Information for HTGAMIT
3. Directory of Opportunities for Collaboration
4. Reminder about bulletin board allocations - schedule for moving

----------------------------------------

1. Request a booth at the Orientation Midway

The ASA Orientation Midway is Friday, September 4th from 4-6:30pm in Johnson
Athletic Center. To request a booth go to:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/publicity/midway.html and fill out the request by
Friday, August 14th at 11:59pm.

As a reminder, the Midway is the first recruitment event for student groups.
Prior to the Midway these restrictions are in place:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/rules/recruitment-rules.html
In particular, the Tuesday Night Event is an opportunity to celebrate the
variety of activities and the collective array of groups available to students
at MIT. Groups may not recruit, advertise, or otherwise bring attention to
their specific groups at this or any other event before the Midway.

2. Information for HTGAMIT

The staff of How To Get Around MIT, the student-produced guide to living around
MIT, is looking to put new student group information in this year's edition. If
you are a new group, if your group doesn't have an entry in HTGAMIT, or you want
to update your entry, please send an email to bralower at mit.edu with "HTGAMIT" in
the subject line and the following info by THIS Sunday at 11:59pm:
  -Group Name
-Contact info (any of: interest list, website, phone, office)
-A short (< 100 word) description of your group's activities

----------------------------------------

3. Directory of Opportunities for Collaboration

Many student groups provide services or run events which may benefit other
groups. In order to facilitate collaboration among student groups, the ASA
Executive Board has created a directory to advertise these opportunities. If
your group would like to submit a listing, please send the following to
asa-exec at mit.edu:

* Group Name
* Expiration Date (< 6 months after date of submission)
* Title (< 60 characters)
* Description (< 600 characters)

Listings are valid for a period ending no later than six months from the date of
submission, unless granted an exception by the ASA Executive Board.

You can view the directory at
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/collaboration.html.

----------------------------------------

4. Reminder about bulletin board allocations - schedule for moving

Bulletin board allocations are now available at:
http://web.mit.edu/asa/resources/bulletin-board-alloc.html.

Schedule:
1. Appeals decisions: any affected groups will be emailed by Monday, 8/3
2. The shared boards will be cleared and labeled for the new allocations on
Thursday morning, 8/6. If you wish to save any materials from your board
please remove them before then or email asa-exec at mit.edu and we can save them
for you.
3. Groups should have something up in their space by Monday, 8/17. This does
not need to be your complete display, but if you have nothing posted your space
might be reassigned to prevent allocated board space from being taken over by
public postering. If you cannot get something posted by that time, please let
us know.

We realize this is a tight schedule, but it is to your benefit to have your
space before Orientation begins.

----------------------------------------

Please feel free to email asa-exec at mit.edu with any requests, questions, or
other inquiries.

Sincerely,
 The ASA Executive Board
