Nanxi,
Good afternoon.
Thank you for your prompt response.
Below would be the text of the informational email:
"Hello everyone! My name is Kaho Maeda, and I am the Vice Chair of the
American Executive Committee for the 71st Japan-America Student Conference.
If you are interested in US-Japan relations, JASC71 is the thing for you!
Please see below for further information:
JASC is a month-long academic conference in the month of August, where
American and Japanese college students discuss both the historical
significance, as well as the future of US-Japan relations. With a long
history starting in 1934, the conference provides delegates with
opportunities for professional, personal, and academic growth. JASC
emphasizes cross-cultural exchange between delegates, which helps to foster
lifelong friendships and connections.
The location of the conference alternates each year; this year, it well be
held in Japan. The delegates will be visiting Kyoto and Tokyo, as well as
additional sites which will be announced at a later date. At these sites,
delegates will network with notable individuals in US-Japan relations and
experience various aspects of Japanese culture. Additionally, American
delegates will take part in American Orientation for a few days prior to
leaving for Japan together. This year, American Orientation will take place
in Los Angeles, CA!
An important component of JASC's legacy is that it is entirely student-led.
The Executive Committee, comprised of both Japanese and American students,
is elected by their fellow delegates at the end of the previous year's
conference. The members of the Executive Committees pick the Conference
theme, roundtable topics, and manage logistics leading up and during the
conference. Roundtables are discussion groups, made up of approximately
four Japanese delegates and four American delegates, led by both Japanese
and American coordinators. Over the course of the conference, roundtables
conduct original, peer-reviewed research with their international
counterparts, examining a timely issue through the lens of the U.S.-Japan
relationship.
A common sentence said by JASCers is that "JASC is forever", and this is
because of the tightly-knit alumni network. With delegates from two
countries with diverse interests and future aspirations, it is not hard to
find a JASCer wherever you go; most importantly, JASCers will go the
distance to help out fellow alumni. Among the network, notable JASC alumni
include Japanese Former Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa and Former US
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
