GET SWABBED*
Bone Marrow Donor Registration
*Meet Janet Liang.* Currently 25 years old and living in the San Francisco
Bay Area, Janet was a student at UCLA studying international development
until she was diagnosed with *acute lymphoblastic leukemia*. [Watch her
nationwide plea here <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSn2T45TneA>.] While
her case has been the most widespread across the nation, there are
countless others who *suffer *as she does. Her case brought to light the
fact that Asian Americans only constitute *7.2%* of nationally registered
potential marrow/stem cell donors, and only *40%* of these people who are
asked to donate actually donate.
*So how can you help?* We ask of you only *5 minutes* of your time to get
swabbed and become registered as a potential bone marrow donor. With new
technology, the actual process of donating can be *painless*. You will only
be contacted in a *life or death* situation, and the chances of actually
being someone's match is only* 0.01%*.
*Who: EVERYONE
Where: Lobby 10
When: May 2, May 3
