Hi AAA,
This may interest you:
My name is Kelsey Williams. I am a Junior at Wellesley College in
Massachusetts and I am the Vice Chair on the American side for a summer
program called the Korea America Student Conference (KASC).
This annual conference brings together 20 American delegates and 20 Korean
delegates, led by a team of 10 student Executive Committee members elected
from the previous conference, to study R.O.K – U.S. relations with the goal
of strengthening the bond between our two countries. Students participate
in roundtable study groups, hear lectures from important speakers, visit
sites pertinent to the conference goals, and put together a final
presentation on an aspect of what they have learned. The conference lasts
one month (the month of July this coming summer) and the students travel
together through four different major cities. The conference is held in
Korea or the U.S., alternating every other year. This year will be in the
U.S.; specifically in Indiana, Washington D.C., Missouri, and California.
We are looking for all the help we can get in spreading the word about this
conference to recruit a team of talented and dedicated delegates. We are
completely student run, and as the conference is only in its 5th year, we
do not yet have as extensive a group of alumni as we’d like and so we can’t
visit every university in person. It would be great if you could simply
forward this email to any students you think might be interested. We are
looking for students with a diverse background of interests, so a focus on
East Asian or Korean Studies is not at all necessary.
You can find more detailed information about KASC at our website,
http://iscdc.org/kasc/, or go directly to the page for this summer’s
upcoming conference here: http://iscdc.org/kasc/2012/. There are also
posters and fliers available to download on the website if you need
materials to easily hand out.
Applications for this summer are due by March 1st and can be found on the
website.
Although KASC is fairly young, our sister program, JASC (the Japan America
Student Conference) has been running successfully for over 60 years. Our
conference has also been endorsed by both U.S. Secretary of State Hilary
Clinton and R.O.K. President Myung-Bak Lee. This conference provides a once
in a lifetime opportunity to work with students from another country and
build friendships and network internationally. I encourage anyone with an
interest in International Relations or who simply wants to improve their
skills as a young professional in the international business world to apply.
If you have any questions or need any more information please feel free to
contact me. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Kelsey Williams
