*CHINA SCHOLARSHIP COUNCIL
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MIT STUDENTS TO STUDY IN CHINA! *
For those of you interested in studying in China next year or beyond, take
a look at this opportunity!
Ø One semester or full academic year options
Ø Open to all majors
Ø Chinese language proficiency is recommended but not required for
eligibility
Ø Up to six MIT students will be chosen each year for the scholarships
Ø Scholarships cover all of the following:
1) Tuition fees
2) Accommodations at the host university
3) Living allowance (RMB 1,400 per month, which is just over US $200 per
month)
4) Ticket to/from airport to destination within China (not overseas travel)
5) Medical insurance
Ø Students choose their top 3 universities to study in China. Approved
universities can be found here: *http://en.csc.edu.cn/Laihua/Search.aspx

Ø Take a look at the school profiles in the above website to see what
subjects they offer. Many universities include the descriptions or syllabi
of the courses they offer on their websites.
Ø Then meet with the Transfer Credit Examiner in the department for which
you would like to transfer credit back to MIT. The list of examiners can
be found here: *http://web.mit.edu/firstyear/transfer/credit/examiners.html

Ø In addition to the application, you will need to submit 2 letters of
recommendation from faculty who can attest to your interest in China,
Chinese language skills (if applicable), and your ability to succeed as a
student in China.
Ø All application materials for the 2011-12 scholarships should be
returned to the Global Education Office, 12-189 *by March 22, 2012*.
Ø A committee at MIT will review your application and let you know if you
have been nominated for the scholarship award. University placements are
made based on your preferences and the decisions of the host universities,
and a final announcement regarding your host institution will be announced
in the summer.
