Weiss Asset Management is a Boston-based hedge fund seeking candidates to work with a team that invests in equities, derivatives, and fixed income across the world through fundamental and quantitative strategies. Successful candidates are highly-intelligent, resourceful, entrepreneurial, and willing to work hard to find answers to unsolved problems. Currently, we are actively recruiting Operations Analyst, Software Development, and Investment Analyst interns for our Fall, January, Spring, and Summer internship programs. All interns receive comprehensive training and are equipped to make meaningful contributions to the firm. Below please find a description of the different internships. Positions are available as either part-time internships (20 hours/week) during school terms or full time internships between terms or post-graduation. Interns are compensated with a competitive salary as well as company perks. High-performing interns are typically offered full time positions.

Operations Analyst Internship
Operations Analyst interns make use of strong technical and analytical skills to assist our operations team, responsible for trade support, risk management, and settlement processes. Interns in this department are creative and pragmatic as they identify risks and propose solutions that will positively impact the company's long-term growth and success. Operations Analyst Interns at Weiss Asset Management have the opportunity to:
- Gain exposure to a wide variety of financial instruments and markets
- Assist and make significant contributions to all Weiss' internal groups including Trading and Analysis, Risk Management, and Software Development
- Receive comprehensive training from senior operations personnel
- Work on research projects including liquidity and performance analyses
- Work closely with software developers to improve our proprietary trading and portfolio management software
Software Development Internship
Software Development interns should feel comfortable working in an intellectually stimulating, fast-paced startup environment. Interns develop technology-based solutions to manage our trading lifecycle, portfolio accounting, live data feeds, real-time analytics and investment screening. Software Development Interns at Weiss Asset Management should have the following technical skills:
- Experience with C#, Java, C++ or a similar language
- Experience with SQL Server or other RDMS technology
- Interest in a broad range of development and technical areas
- Experience in professional software development a plus
Investment Analyst Internship
By working alongside our research and trading team, interns will gain investment experience on par with that of first-year buy-side analysts and quantitative traders. Investment Analyst interns at Weiss Asset Management have the opportunity to:
- Work closely with a team that researches and executes a variety of investment strategies, ranging from activist value investing to statistical arbitrage.
- Learn how to find and evaluate investment and trade ideas.
- Build and apply expertise in quantitative analysis and statistical modeling.
- Make significant contributions at all stages in the process, including sourcing, researching and modeling sophisticated investments.
- Perform in-depth due diligence by interacting with company management and industry experts.
