Summer and Fall 2009 Paid Internships in Quantitative Finance
Background
State Street Associates (SSA) is a unique partnership of industry
experts and academia formed to build and promote a pre-eminent research
agenda around quantitative investor behavior, portfolio construction and
risk management.
State Street Associates' staff work in a collegiate environment just off
Harvard Square, Cambridge, designed to foster creative and
groundbreaking thought. Our work is extensively peer-reviewed and
published in academic and practitioner journals.
Our business objectives are to promote State Street's brand as the
leading provider of knowledge resources for global investors and provide
valuable, proprietary research to these clients in support of our
sell-side business, State Street Global Markets.
SSA is looking for interns for summer and fall 2009 to work as
quantitative researchers in the Investor Behavior Research Team on a
full-time, 40 hours/week basis. These individuals will provide research
assistance relating to measures of investor behavior and/or fundamental
research on such data and/or the development and testing of trading and
investment models.
Requirements
* Graduate or undergraduate degree or coursework in a quantitative
field such as physics, statistics, computer science, economics, or
finance (salary commensurate with degree and experience).
* Solid knowledge of Matlab, or the ability to learn new
programming languages quickly, is essential. Knowledge of SQL is a
plus.
* Knowledge of basic financial asset pricing theory and
econometrics is a plus.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
