Computational Neurobiology

Our research seeks to understand the genetics of neurodegenerative
and neurodevelopmental disorders such as Parkinson's disease and
autism as well as quantitative genetic traits such as height. We hope
to understand these conditions through an application of statistical
genetics, population genetics, gene expression studies, and basic biology.

This project will give students a chance to combine their interest in
computation with applications in neurobiology and important
neurological conditions. For those with an interest, there can be a
chance also to work in molecular biology as well as statistics.

A background in computation (and possibly neurobiology) would be very
useful but isn't required.  What is more important is an interest and
strong motivation in these topics. Our work has led to upcoming
co-authored publications for a former UROP.
