We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as
our full-time research assistant beginning in the summer of 2009. The
job will entail close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing
projects in industrial organization and political economy, with a focus
on media industries. Previous holders of this position have gone on to
Ph.D. programs at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University,
and Harvard University.
The ideal candidate will: (i) have a strong quantitative background;
(ii) have strong computer skills including programming; (iii) be able to
work independently to solve problems; (iv) be able to direct a team of
undergraduate research assistants; and (v) have a long-term interest in
pursuing research in economics. Background in economics is a plus, but
not necessary - we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds
who are looking for more exposure to economics.
We are primarily looking for applicants who can make a commitment of at
least twelve months. We will also consider exceptionally qualified
applicants for a three-month summer position beginning in June, 2009.
If interested, please send the following by e-mail to Joyce Van
Grondelle (joyce at chicagogsb.edu):
- -- A cover letter briefly describing your career/study goals, and
telling us how you learned of this position.
- -- A CV.
- -- A complete undergraduate transcript, and graduate transcript if
applicable. (Unofficial transcripts are fine.)
