[2015] In Remembrance of Satto Tonegawa

Dear Class of 2015,

Two weeks ago, we were all extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Satto Tonegawa, a beloved member of our MIT Freshman Class. While many of us did not yet get a chance to know Satto, we from those who did that he was an an amiable, intelligent, and a wonderful person to be around. I want to echo the words spoken by several in that past two weeks, that our hearts and minds should be extended to Satto's family, friends, and those in our community who have been impacted by this tragic event. 

Since the moments when we arrived here at MIT, all of us have faced challenges, had struggles, overcome personal obstacles - and with our dear classmates - had amazing experiences. As we move forward, let's all take time, too, to reach out to our friends, classmates, and neighbors when they are in need. Kind companions and warm actions go a long way.

On behalf of our class, the 2015 Council will be sending a card to Satto's family. Additionally, a second card with student messages will be sent. If you knew Satto and have something that you wish to tell to the Tonegawa family, please contact me or another class council member so that you can add your contribution to the card.
