I am not a techie by any means, but this seems like a permissions issue on the server to me (perhaps WP isn’t allowed to make new sizes of the image file?). However, my IT person assures me that WP has write permissions in the correct directories. We did recently upgrade PHP on the server (about a month ago), so he suspects that might be connected to the problem, but that hasn’t apparently helped come up with a solution.
