"><b>Interactive design, transmedia narration, participatory learning, multi-modal engagement – 18th-century flap books are a surprisingly versatile medium!</b></span><b> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></b>As part of HyperStudio's ongoing lunch discussion series, Jacqueline Reid-Walsh will trace the links between early interactive book design and "new" digital learning tools, offering new insight into both media history and contemporary digital culture.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br><br>Associate professor of Education, Language, and Literacy Education at Penn State, Jacqueline Reid-Walsh's research interests include historical children's literature and culture, children's and youth popular culture, comparative media literacy and girlhood studies. A literary historian working with theoretical lenses drawn from cultural studies, children's studies, and feminist studies, she has co-edited and co-authored several books. Her most recent book is Girl Culture: An Encyclopedia (2007). She is also a founding editor of a new journal called Girlhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal.
