Masonite is the trade name for Hardboard (HDF) which is more dense than MDF (medium density fiberboard) My opinion is that MDF is not too bad for show decks, but will not hold up as a permanent stage covering. Se if you can find a supplier for Oil tempered Hardboard up there in North country. Many years ago in Milwaukee I used a product called Duron—tempered all the way through hardboard. Not having much luck finding that now in Northern Vermont, though I was happy with it. Last time I used 1/8” tempered Masonite because that’s what I could afford…and it lasted about as you’d expect in higher traffic areas. I’m considering ¼” MDF because it’s cheaper than ¼” Masonite and may well be more stable particularly in the summer when the stage gets the hardest use. <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Any serious downsides or red flags to the MDF?
