<div dir="ltr"><div>Dear Undergrads, <br><br>Hope you&#39;re all well. A friendly reminder to submit your intent to run forms for UA President/Vice President, Class Council, and ILG/Off-campus rep on UA Council by the end of day this Friday. <br></div><div><br></div><div><div dir="ltr"><div>The four undergraduate representatives on the Committee of the Undergraduate Program (<a href="https://registrar.mit.edu/faculty-curriculum-support/faculty-curriculum-committees/committee-undergraduate-program" target="_blank">CUP</a>) want your feedback on the new <a href="https://registrar.mit.edu/faculty-curriculum-support/faculty-curriculum-committees/committee-undergraduate-program/flexible" target="_blank">Flexible P/NR policy</a> proposed by CUP (note: it is not related to the emergency alternative grading system in place this semester). The proposal seeks to provide a safety net for students who need it, ease the transition into MIT, and encourage exploration. <br><br>If you have questions/comments please join our<b> Zoom meeting on April 17 at 6PM EDT</b> (details sent out soon). If you can&#39;t make it live, but want to share feedback fill out this <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScCB5DN-5rTYDsX9_64QeUISoiko9u8YIhY0AiaZ7mt7anqgg/viewform" target="_blank">form</a>. Here is more detailed <a href="https://registrar.mit.edu/faculty-curriculum-support/faculty-curriculum-committees/committee-undergraduate-program/flexible" target="_blank">info about the proposal</a>.</div></div><div><br></div>The proposal, if approved by the full faculty, would be implemented starting with first-year students entering in Fall 2020. Under the Flex P/NR proposal, first-year grading remains P/NR in the fall and ABC/NR in the spring. Beginning in their second term, students would be allowed to convert up to 48 units to P/NR after receiving their final grade. They can use this option for any subject at any point during their undergraduate study.<br><br>The CUP looks forward to hearing your feedback! <br><br>Warm Regards,<br>Mahi Elango<br>UA President<br></div></div>
