Frustrated by the recent actions of the Blue Ribbon Committee on
Dining, the Undergraduate Association Senate has passed a resolution to
create a new Dining Proposal Committee consisting solely of
undergraduates. If you wish to serve on this committee, please fill
out the application available online at <a

by noon on Saturday, March 14.

Dear undergraduates,

As I'm sure you are aware, the future of MIT's dining program has been
an issue of great debate recently. In particular, many undergraduates
have expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of the Blue Ribbon
Committee on Dining. The committee was charged in October 2007 with
proposing a set of recommendations to improve the MIT dining system.

Over the past several months, the Undergraduate Association Senate has
issued a series of statements requesting greater transparency and
accountability from the Blue Ribbon Committee. This Monday, student
senators from across campus expressed their dissatisfaction with the
committee's apparent disregard for the Undergraduate Association's
requests.

As a result, Senate wrote and passed a resolution to create the Dining
Proposal Committee (DPC). This committee of undergraduates is charged
with formulating and proposing a comprehensive program of dining
improvements that meet the needs of the MIT community. The Dining
Proposal Committee's report will be submitted to the UA Senate for
deliberation
by mid-April and presented to the administration by the end of April,
in order to coincide with the publication of the Blue Ribbon
Committee's final report.

The UA Nominations Committee is issuing an open call for dedicated
undergraduates who wish to serve on the Dining Proposal Committee. We
are
searching for students who accurately represent the diversity of dining
styles found at MIT and who are committed to maintaining transparency
in all of the committee's affairs. Interested individuals should
submit the application available online at http://ua.mit.edu/committees/nomcomm/dining.html
by noon on Saturday, March 14.

If you have any questions or comments, please email the Nominations
Committee at ua-nomcomm@mit.edu.

Sincerely,
