How cool is that?<br><br>Here are the open positions and their descriptions. <br>See you guys soon!<br><br>~kat<br><br><u><b>Positions+Descriptions:</b></u><br><u>ALL POSITIONS</u><br>
Must attend random meetings when scheduled by the EIC and/or Managing<br>
Editor. Must be a Technique Evangelist and encourage people to join<br>
and buy books. Must assist other managing board members in their<br>
tasks when they ask for help. Must come to Saturday meetings whenever<br>
possible to engage in eating and tomfoolery. Must be a generally<br>
pleasant person :)<br>
<br>
<u>Editor-In-Chief</u><br>
Responsible for everything. Yep, thats about it. Most importantly,<br>
they are the face of the organization, and are in charge of doing what<br>
they can to allow the organization to exist another 193726284 years.<br>
Selfish people not apply, you are here for Grogo's work. The Pope of<br>
Technique, without the big cool hat. Must realize that PEOPLE<br>
(primarily) and MONEY (secondarily) are the most important things to<br>
the organization. Must think long term. Must have people skills and<br>
leadership skills. Email us for an elaboration.<br>
<br>
<u>Managing Editor</u><br>
Second in command. Assists the EIC in holding editors on task.<br>
Assists the EIC with oddball stuff that doesn't fall within others'<br>
domains. Does lots of various paperwork. The Managing Editor is<br>
usually Technique's treasurer, so work with money (more paperwork).<br>
Does some politicking with the ASA. Must have people skills and<br>
leadership skills. Traditional stepping stone to being EIC, not<br>
always :)<br>
<br>
<u>Design Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the look and feel of the book... a <b>big deal.</b><br>
Responsible for doing a lot of layout work. Without the design ed,<br>
its "just a book of photos". Creative types apply. Must know or be<br>
willing to learn Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Spends a lot of time<br>
in the office over IAP and February.<br>
<u><br>
Photography Editor</u><br>
Technique's chief photography evangelists. Responsible for<br>
photography gear, teaching staph how to use it, encouraging<br>
photographers to shoot, managing photo-related purchases, sorting<br>
through a terabyte of photos in January, and photoshopping them for<br>
the book. Most importantly, you have to be motivated and willing to<br>
look past this short list, and try to further Technique as a<br>
photography powerhouse on campus. Must know or be willing to learn<br>
Adobe Photoshop, among many other things.<br>
<br><u>Darkroom/Film Manager</u><br>
Keeps the darkroom in working order. Keeps the place tidy, keeps the<br>
place stocked with consumables, and takes care of managing any<br>
repairs. Enjoys the smell of fixer.<br>
Will also be in charge of maintaining all things related to film<br>
(scanning for book, etc)<br>
Will work closely with photo ed<br><br>
<u>Living Groups Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the Living Groups section and everything that goes<br>
into it. A lot of organizational work. Emailing living group people,<br>
scheduling LG photos, scheduling photogs to shoot them, collecting<br>
money from LGs, more emails to LG representatives... must have serious<br>
people skills :) Has a voice on the design of the LG section<br>

Seniors Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the Seniors section and everything that goes into it.<br>
A lot of organizational work. Emailing the senior class, scheduling<br>
stuff with our portrait studio, scheduling staph to man the office,<br>
dealing with lots of random emails from seniors, getting people that<br>
man the office paid... must have serious people skills :) Has a voice<br>
on the design of the LG section.<br>
<br>
<u>Activities Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the Activities Section. Takes photos of activities<br>
and encourages others to. Has a voice on the design of the activities<br>
section.<br>
<u><br>
Sports Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the Sports Section. Takes photos of sports and<br>
encourages others to. Has a voice on the design of the activities<br>
section.<br>
<br>
<u>Journal Editor</u><br>
Responsible for the Journal Section. Records a list of newsworthy<br>
events that happen in relation to MIT and the world. Has a voice on<br>
the design of the activities section.<br>
<br>
<u>Literary Editor</u><br>
Responsible for assembling witty/sarcastic/funny/etc textual elements<br>
for the book. Will consult with the Design Editor in this regard.<br>
Has a voice on the design of the Hell section, or any other section<br>
that text is present.<br>
<br>
<u>Director of Publicity</u><br>
More important than you may think. Responsible for getting Living<br>
Groups to sign up for the LG section, seniors coming in for senior<br>
portraits, RECRUITMENT of new staph, and SELLING books. Technique<br>
would die without people or money, and they are responsible for both.<br>
(I just pooped myself thinking about this.) Must make posters, hang<br>
them up, email people, get ads on various MIT venues, etc.<br>
<br>
<u>Technology Director (aka Script Kiddie)</u><br>
Responsible for maintaining servers and major dealings with the office<br>
computers. Deals with IST regarding the W20 network, IP addresses,<br>
etc. Responsible for online systems, such as the orders database, and<br>
the Technique website. Responsible for keeping the online credit card<br>
and TechCASH systems working and raking in the bucks. Responsible for<br>
thinking long term regarding technology purchases. Encouraged to find<br>
innovative ways to solve Technique's time-consuming problems (scripts!<br>
omgwtfbbq we need people to write scripts!).<br>
<br>
<u>Operations Manager</u><br>
Co-responsible for checkout and signin of photographic gear, with the<br>
photography editors. Responsible for assisting the Technology Director<br>
in maintaining office computers and networking. Maintains consumable<br>
supplies in the office. Assists the Managing Editor and EIC in keeping<br>
the office in workable condition. Responsible for dealing with<br>
Facilities regarding repairs and installations. May be delegated other<br>
jobs by the Managing Editor or Editor In Chief.<br>
<br>
<u>Coke Pusher<br>
</u>They fill the coke machine with soda :) More recently, since the coke<br>
machine is under repair and we purchased a water cooler, they keep the<br>
water flowin! Pays the bills to CocaCola or Poland Spring, buys cups.<br>
<br>
<u>Orders Tsar</u><br>
Responsible for taking orders from various media (online credit card<br>
or techcash, mail, in person), inputs orders into the orders database,<br>
coordinates with the Managing Editor on money issues, coordinates with<br>
the Managing Editor during book distribution in May and book mailings<br>
in June.<br>
<br>
<u>Contributing Editor</u><br>
Interested in taking a greater role at Technique, but don't have the<br>
time/interest/skillz for any of the jobs above? Contributing Editors<br>
assist the other Managing Board members with tasks, and should be pro-<br>
active in doing random jobs that need to be done. They are the<br>
favorite people of hard-working EICs and Managing Editors. I became<br>
