The Epstein Affair, President Reif, and Catholic Doctrine about Cooperation in Evil

The recent scandal involving MIT professors and departments taking money from Jeffrey Epstein has led some people to call for the resignation of President Reif because, as one person put it, “interactions with [Epstein] were … inexcusably immoral.” This
Monday, October 7, at 8:15 in the W11 MDR, Fr. Moloney will lead a discussion about this claim. Is every interaction with someone like Epstein immoral? Is it possible to live and flourish in a fallen world while never interacting with sinners? We’ll
introduce the Catholic doctrine about cooperating with evil, and use the Epstein scandal as a case study for thinking about how we should and should not relate with sinners. Pizza will be served.
