<p class="MsoNormal">societies and nations. Prof. Chad Pecknold of the Catholic University of America will be giving the first<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Thomistic Institute lecture of the year, “Augustine’s City of God and the Nature of Politics.” Prof. Pecknold is the<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">author of Christianity and Politics: A Brief Guide to the History, and is a frequent commentator regarding the<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">intersection on Christianity and politics on television and print media. The talk will focus on the classic<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">statement of the relation of Church to the state as given by St. Augustine, and how that applies to politics today<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Trinity to Church history to the Sacraments, prayer, and the moral life. It is meant to be both a high-level<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">introduction to the faith appropriate for interested non-Catholics, and a serious review of the faith for those who<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">are Catholics. It is required for those who want to enter the Church. Classes will start in early October and run<o:p></o:p></p>
