“Treasure in Earthen Vessels”: The Power of God’s Word in the Sacraments |
Catholics have long been accused of “hocus pocus” for believing in the efficacy a few choice words in conferring the Sacraments. Join us as we trace the revelation of the power of God’s word through salvation history - from the beginning until the coming of age of Christ and His Church. Essential elements of the Sacraments will be discussed, with special attention to Holy Matrimony and Holy Orders.

Lecturer: Fr. Michael Zimmerman studied in Rome, earning Summa Cum Laude for his STB in Theology and STL in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. In spring of 2018, he studied for a semester at the Dominican university of the École Biblique et Archéologique Française (EBAF) in Jerusalem. His STL thesis is entitled “A Literary-Rhetorical Analysis of Ephesians 5:22-24: ‘Wives be Submissive to Your Husbands’”.

Before studying in Rome, Fr. Zimmerman earned his Bachelor of Philosophy in 2013 at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA. While in seminary, Fr. Zimmerman has participated in mission trips to Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries in Central America, Africa, and Europe. Fr. Zimmerman entered seminary upon completing a BA/MA in Chemistry from Boston University in 2011 as a Cardinal Medeiros Scholar, Scarlet Key Recipient, and Captain of the Track Team.
