Maxi will teach a very insightful series of workshops on Saturday September 25th
and Sunday September 26th at Ripley Grier. Maxi is a porteño dancer who proudly
continues the tradition of his hometown social dance. His professional life in
tango is divided into two main areas: researching the dance of the old
generation milongueros and teaching. With his teaching he intends to share the
magic of the porteño dance with the rest of the world: its technique, its
culture, and its mystery. This magic, although difficult to conceptualize, he
has been successful to transmit to his students from many countries. His
outstanding qualities as a teacher and as a dancer have gained him a great
following during his previous visits to New York.

The focus of his workshops this time will be on musicality, en essential element
to dance to the “compas”.

On Saturday the two workshops will explore the differences and the challenges
posed by tangos performed by orchestras “melodiosas” like Di Sarli and tangos
more “picaditos” like those of D’Arienzo. While on Sunday the entire day of
classes will be devoted to musicality in milonga.

We strongly encourage you to pre-register so that we can ensure the best gender
balance in the class. Please email Francesca at tangotuscany at gmail.com to sign
up.
