Brigitta¹s Bio (partial-very):
Brigitta is a remarkably curious person--curious about dance and ideas,
loving and respecting tradition and innovation so much. She is sought after
at festivals--in USA, Germany, Italy and Russia. Her first stage appearance
was in 1986 in Montreal. Her studio, Tanzart, was a pillar of the tango
community in Berlin, Germany since 1987. In 2005 she opened her tango
center called Phynix Tanzt in Berlin.
Brigitta discovered tango in Buenos Aires in the early 1980s, studying with
such legendary dancers as Virulazo, Juan Carlos Copes, Antonio Todaro,
Pepito Avellaneda, Gustavo Naveira, and Eduardo Arquimbau. Brigitta
collaborated with four other women (three collaborators from Dance
Manhattan, another being her partner in Berlin) to create the original and
acclaimed women¹s dance company, ³Tango Mujer². She likes collaborating and
dancing with Tomas Howlin, (B.A.) and together they have created a Teacher
Training Network.
