Otros Aires, blends traditional tango music with electronics, rock and even
hints of hip hop, premieres in the Washington DC area is 9 p.m., Monday July
13, at Cococabana Grill in Hyattsville, Maryland, as part of its first tour
in the United States.

The three-member band, led by Miguel Di Genova, plays original  songs
inspired by early tango recordings, samplings of which give Otros Aires its
signature style. The upbeat rhythms infused with electronics have energized
audiences in Buenos Aires and such European cities as Paris, Berlin,
Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Di Genova credits living in Spain for his rediscovery of his musical roots
in tango. Pianist Diego Ramos and Omar Massa, who plays the bandoneón, also
returned to tango after classical music training. Says Massa, “When you’re
born in Buenos Aires, you don’t come to tango, tango comes with you.”  Otros
Aires—Spanish for “Other Winds”—breathes fresh, danceable sounds into
traditional tango music. 

Cococabana Grill features a spacious dance floor for the D.C. area
concert-goers to enjoy. Carina Losano will teach a 45 min. class for all
levels on dancing to their music before the show at 8:00 p.m. Event
organizer Carina Losano, a tango dancer and choreographer and another native
of Buenos Aires, Otros Aires musicians will host a musicality workshop at
Cococabana on Sunday, July 12, 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Otros Aires musicians will be giving, because many of us will benefit
tremendously from this unique workshop.  Bring a pen and something to make
your own notes as well.

“UNDERSTANDING TANGO FROM THE TRADITIONAL GOLD AGE TO PIAZZOLA.”
Theory & put into practice:
During these seminars Otros Aires play a tango and all the different rhythms
that that specific tango includes.
Musicians’ help attendees understand the Marcato using diverse techniques.
Attendees finish not only understanding the – marcato- music but they also
dance along with the rhythms and beats taught.
This seminar is very entertaining, full of musical knowledge to help dancers
understand the marcato and extremely practical, since it encourages the
audience active participation and involvement.
Note:  This seminar is dedicated to the Tango dancer and DJ’s that would
like to fully understand every aspect of the musicality of Tango.
