In recognition of the unique history and culture of the South Street
Seaport, the newly opened AKO store + design studio, located in the
pedestrian area of Front Street, will be sponsoring a weekly free
tango ‘practica’ at the adjacent “Cannon’s Walk” on the pedestrian
part of Front St.

In Buenos Aires, the home of tango, many ‘tangueros’ sneak out at
lunchtime unbeknownst to family or colleagues to catch a dance or two
at a local ‘milonga’ (tango dance hall).

You are invited to dance, lunch, take a free 1/2 hour beginner’s
class, or to just sit and enjoy watching.

The free weekly sessions will be hosted by tango teachers and
directors of the "School of Traditional Argentine Tango" of NewYork,
Sergio Segura and Anton Gazenbeek.

Mr. Segura and Mr. Gazenbeek are the creators of “The Argentine
Tango Cultural Tour” through which they promote traditional Argentine
tango in the United States, Europe, and Asia. This program brings
together the history of the dance, it’s music, as well as
photography, art and film documentaries about tango. They are also
the producers of the multimedia show "The Anthropology of Tango
Dance". They have produced 5 Tango Teaching DVD’s and they own the
largest collection of historic and rare tango dance videos in the world.

Classes will be taught by Mr. Segura and the ‘practica’ will be
guided by Mr. Anton Gazenbeek, a professional dancer, choreographer
and historian.

This weekly event is free and open to the public!
