Randy Fisher is a tango dancer who has spent more than half of the last 6 years in Argentina and most of the last year in Argentina studying folklore. In the last few years, he has been developing methods to teach and demystify folklore.

Randy also plays the Bombo Legüero which is the primary percussive instrument in Argentine folklore. During his last stay in Argentina he started teaching folklore classes and taking group field trips to Peñas to practice. Randy and his students inspired a couple of milongas to add folklore to their regular routine which went over very well. The classes were taught mostly to Argentine tango dancers wanting to learn Zamba. He worked on the music and improvisation within the choreography.

Randy has been exploring the inseparable bond between tango and folklore. Folklore has many elements that can enhance your tango in footwork, musicality, connection, energy and cultural context. Folklore also allows you to interact on another level with your fellow dancers. Folklore adds balance to the energy of a milonga with its fun festive nature. His goal is to have the whole room dancing!!

Randy predicts that in the next year Zambas will be played more often at the end of the Chacarera sets.
