ABOUT THE SAN DIEGO TANGO FESTIVAL

  - 5 Buenos Aires style milongas, Line-of-dance, Tandas and Curtinas

Brought to you by the organizers of the Denver Tango Festivals. The  
Town & Country is an old-fashioned, resort-style California hotel with  
lots of swimming pools and palm trees. San Diego is full of very good  
and very friendly dancers. They pull out all the stops to welcome all  
the festival dancers.

This is another "Tango Festival For Dancers, By Dancers", which means  
everything is designed with the dancers in mind. Dance floor will be  
arranged with tables around the edge so walkers don't disturb the line  
of dance. The floors will be crowded, but courteous. Expect two or  
three lanes and Buenos Aires style floorcraft. DJs will play tandas  
with curtinas. Most people are familiar with and use the cabeceo to  
get dances, and the teachers will emphasize navigation and floorcraft  
in their classes.


WHAT'S DIFFERENT AND SPECIAL ABOUT THE DENVER/SAN DIEGO TANGO FESTIVALS?

Workshops are oriented to SOCIAL tango dancing, not stage tango. The  
level is generally pretty high, and many advanced dancers will be  
attending workshops. This is where you meet and get to know partners  
for dancing later at the milongas.

We will be presenting the ever popular "Teacher Training" classes with  
Brigitta Winkler and Tomas Howlin. Open to serious, advanced dancers.

could you help me forward this to your people? This is a
Cantonese-speaking theater but two of the characters don't have to be
Cantonese-speaking and don't even have to be Chinese. The 4 dancers in

FYI: Parking - M street meters are in effect until 10pm. Free after 10. If you park on side streets, please read the signs, most of them are for 2 hours. There were plenty of parking spaces last Thursday night. If you park on K St., under the bridge, it is a block or two walk, 5-10min, there were many spaces available.

The group will only be open for people, who've already worked with us  
intensively during a weekend of workshops, private classes or a

The program:
We give classes for 20 hours in a shady and romantic winecellar: 2,5  
hours after breakfast and 1,5 hours before dinner. Thus you've got the

Montpellier e.g. is only 50 km away, same with the sea. One entire day  
is lesson-free and you may also plan a longer trip to an interesting  
site. After the evening practica we'll have dinner together: our hosts

You may book further days at Mas Vinson individually, especially if

ABOUT TATE: Tate Di Chiazza aims to bring his students into that ?other 
dimension? unique to tango in which the acute connection creates a

Join the Pittsburgh Argentine Tango Society in welcoming DANIEL TRENNER to Pittsburgh for his first national tour in years!

DANIEL TRENNER is one of Tango's modern pioneers. He was one of the first dozen young people involved in tango's revival. He studied with, interviewed, filmed and organized for many of the Milongueros, the older generation dancers. He has been called a ?Johnny Appleseed of Tango? for his 20 years of touring as a tango teacher, visiting more than 100 cities on 4 continents. He was one of the early proponents of teaching tango by its elements, rather than traditional sequences of steps.  In the 90s he created the first Tango tours to Buenos Aires (Bridge to the Tango), and the first Tango store in North America (The Tango Catalogue). He produced more than 80 volumes of Tango Instructional Video, with more than 40 artists (BttTV). 

Daniel is a staunch supporter of Tango as a Social Dance and as a vehicle for creating dance communities. His influence continues to be seen in the thriving tango communities of New York City, Denver, Boston, Washington, DC, and others. If you are planning to come to the New Year's Eve portion of the Providence
New Year's event,  *you MUST PRE-REGISTER by midnight on Monday the
29th!*  Registration
will be closed after the 29th and we do not sell tickets at the door for New
Year's Eve.

If you want to come during New Year's *day or evening*,  online registration
will close, but *you will still be able to pay at the door*.

The Early, Early Bird Discount to the Chicago Mini Tango Festival
(www.chicagotangofestival.com) will expire on December 31, 2008. So
far we have people coming to the Festival from New York City; Pittsburgh; Milwaukee; Indianapolis; Grawn, Michigan; San Francisco; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Minneapolis and Bloomington, Minnesota; Sedona and Tucson Arizona; Champaign-Urbana, Il; Dekalb, Il; Burr Ridge, Il; Denver; Santa Clara,
Ca; Saint Louis; Woodstock and Saugerties, NY; Travese City, Michigan; and of course, Buenos Aires and Chicago.

The festival will be held from April 17-19, 2009 at the University of
Chicago in the Hyde Park section of Chicago. Pre-festival workshops
will also be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009.

The instructors for the Chicago Mini Tango Festival include:

Ruben Harymbat and Enriqueta Kleinman (Buenos Aires)
Gustavo Benzecry and Maria Olivera (Buenos Aires)
Ramiro Gigliotti and Elina Roldan (Buenos Aires).

Djs include:
Vijay Namasivayam (San Francisco)
Ko Tanaka (New York)
Ilene Marder (Woodstock, NY)
Paul Akmajian (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

The full festival pass will be $160 prior to January 1, 2009.
The Saturday Arrival festival pass will be $135 prior to January 1,
2009. The full festival student pass will be $110 prior to January 1,
2009. The pass includes ability to select from up to 20 classes. There
will also be 6 milongas (including our Argentina night milonga with
wine and empanadas and fantastic performances. There will also be a
special chat session on the "History of Golden Era of Tango". There
will be a special Master Class taught by Elina Roldan and Enriqueta
Kleinman titled: "DOS MIRADAS SOBRE EL TANGO SALON Y MILONGUERO" or
"Two Looks at Tango Salon and Tango Milonguero". A separate payment
will be required.
