Tango Musicality

"Music is the most important part of the dance. No matter what we are able
to do from a choreographic point of view, it becomes useless when done
independently of the music playing.

Our approach to teach musicality is to use basic choreography to emphasize
phrasing, focusing on the pauses, rhythm and energy flow. Everybody can be
"on the music" but it takes something more to dance "with the music".
Advanced dancers are challenged to use what they know in a different way.

In this approach, the follower is not just a passive element of the dance,
subject to the leader's command. The woman has her own voice, with a real
influence in the way the dance is executed.

Mastering MUSICALITY is tremendously useful, regardless of your skill level.
The most skilled dancer is not the one that can perform the most complicated
step pattern, but the one that can use the music to establish a connection
with his/her partner, and then focus on the steps".
