THIS SUNDAY, NOV 4 ESMERALDA'S MILONGA IS CANCELLED. THE NYC MARATHON GOES
upPAST SESSION 73 AND THE PLACE IS PACKED AS WELL AS THE STREETS. YOU CAN'T
GET NEAR THE PLACE.

We resume with our fantastically wonderful nights with our great dancers in
our great space on Nov 11--the following Sunday.

Thanks to all the delightfully mad dancers who came in inventive, colorful
costumes --or none at all--to honor these much-loved guys, Alex Turney now
no longer a double ocho, and Trey Parker,--along with other special birthday
guests, in alphabetical order, Eleanora Beliavsky, Randy Sherman and Jane
Shrenkel-- every one a truly beautiful dancer to honor!

(A note about Alex: happily Anton Gazenbeek, the exceptional tango
historian, dancer, teacher in NYC now, was on hand and I asked him to say a
few words about Alex. He calls Alex a rare and authentic milonguero and as
Anton has studied every living tanguero/a plus every piece of footage extant
of dancers no longer with us, this is indeed great praise. Let us so honor
Alex at 89, perhaps the oldest tango dancer or one of the oldest in the USA.
By the way, his dancing is as clear and strong as any 50-year old's might
be.)

Special thanks for invaluable help in filming to Gayatri Martin of
Celebratetango.com, Greg Liambas and Trey, to Jason Lee for camera work
(someday to be made visible), as well as additional thanks to Greg for
lighting set-up, cake procurement and everything else he did to make the
evening work well.

Hope to see all those in the NYC area Sunday, Nov 11.
"Be there or be cuadrado", quoth Esmeralda.
Abrazos,
Lucille
