GOTTA TANGO
Alberto Paz and Valorie Hart

The Argentine tango is enjoying an immense growth in popularity around the
globe as new generations of social dancers gain inspiration from the
creativity and natural elegance of this dance form. Throughout the United
States and worldwide, clubs, dance studios, Web sites, and courses are
emerging to keep in step with the growing popularity of tango on a social
level. Gotta Tango provides this new crop of enthusiasts as well as the
existing generation of dancers with a conceptual understanding of moves they
can take directly onto the dance floor. The only instructional package of
its kind, Gotta Tango is made up of a book and DVD, which combine to teach
participants the authentic form of Argentine tango in a progressive,
easy-to-follow approach. The book not only encapsulates the cultural and
historical background of the Argentine tango, but it also explains why
certain moves are executed in a certain manner. The 60-minute DVD
supplements the book with visual demonstrations of essential concepts and
movements of the tango.

Authors Alberto Paz and Valorie Hart are internationally known Argentine
tango masters and historians who provide expert instruction while examining
the romance, passion, and emotion that fuel the authentic Argentine tango.
Gotta Tango gives beginning tango dancers and those who lack a conceptual
tango education the confidence and knowledge they need not only to learn the
steps but also to connect them in context with the music and with their
partners.

About the authors Alberto Paz and Valorie Hart own Planet Tango, a school
and tango salon located in New Orleans. Together, Paz and Hart conduct
master Argentine tango classes as well as lectures and workshops in cities
across America and the world. They also publish El Firulete, an online
international Argentine tango E-zine in English, and they have been featured
dancers on the Buenos Aires TV show Tango Around the World "TANGO NEW
ORLEANS STYLE." Paz is a native of Argentina and grew up in the streets of
Buenos Aires, while Hart was born in the United States and is ballet trained
with experience in both off-Broadway and summer stock. The two met in 1995
during a tango conference and workshop at Stanford University. Since then,
the pair has become internationally reputable Argentine tango masters and
historians, known for their smooth, creative, and elegant improvisational
dancing style. Both authors teach and dance the traditional and modern
authentic concepts of improvisation originally developed by the masters in
the 1930s, revamped in the 1990s, and practiced by dancers of all ages in
the social settings of the Buenos Aires dance halls to this date. Paz and
Hart reside in New Orleans.
