Back by popular demand, this is Monk's second trip to the Hudson Valley
Catskills. Their 2006 performance at The Bearsville Theater sold out
and received standing ovations from a rapt audience. Monk's music
celebrates the magic and spirit of tango from its fascinating beginnings
in the backstreets of Buenos Aires through its evolution into the 21st
century, connecting audiences to this passionate culture of music and
dance, whether they already know and love tango or are just discovering
its magic.

Accompanied by Vivo and Da Silva (Woodstock Tango's resident teacher),
these five amazingly talented musicians approach tango in its
traditional form and style and through original compositions by Monk, an
award winning composer, instrumentalist and vocalist. The group's
creative repertoire includes tangos popularized by the 'immortal' Carlos
Gardel, along with such famous tangos as La Cumparsita; waltzes &
milongas from tango's Golden Age and sparkling new compositions in the
modern tango genre.

The Bearsville Theater, located in the Bears complex on Route 212 right
outside the Woodstock Arts Colony, is legendary among theatergoers and
artists alike. Built by rock impresario Albert Grossman (Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, The Band), the 250 seat theater is a
one-of-a-kind showplace for an array of musical, theatrical and special
events.

Woodstock Tango hosts weekly classes, monthly milongas and special
workshops & events featuring outstanding Argentine Tango dancer/teachers
from NYC and Buenos Aires.

"...Monk´s solos had amazing fast rhythms, his articulation is
excellent..." Cesar Pradines "La Nacion" Newspaper. Buenos Aires,
Argentina 04/07/04
