[Tango-A] NA-C: April 27th – canyengue Class and TWO showcases at milonga Nuestro Tango, Inc. in Chicago

The pre-milonga class at milonga Nuestro Tango on Friday, April 27th will be a special workshop taught by Ernest Williams, who performed and taught at last weekend’s Chicago mini-Festival. Ernest has devoted several years to studying the African roots of tango and has developed an expertise in canyengue, candombe and milongon. The class, similar to the one he taught last Sunday at the University of Chicago, will provide a review of the fundamental movements of canyengue as well as offer new material to those who attended the mini-festival class.

Ernest’s canyengue class, from 7:45 – 8:45 p at The Latvian Community Center prior to milonga Nuestro Tango, Inc. will be $10; the milonga cover is $15 per person. However, for this special evening, $20 will buy you both the class AND the milonga! And, because we understand there are many other tango events this Friday, we will offer a $10 admission for those arriving after 11:00 p so you can come to see the showcases, which will begin around 11:30 p.
In addition to a canyengue performance by Ernest, with Anna Karassik, milonga Nuestro Tango is pleased to host Orlando Farias & Noelia Soldera, who also will showcase. Orlando & Noelia are teaching workshops at American Tango Institute this weekend. You may learn more about this delightful young couple and see them dance at www.orlandoynoelia.com. 

milonga Nuestro Tango is danced from 9:00 p until at least 1:00 a on the last Friday of every month. The Latvian Community Center is located at 4164 N. Elston Ave. – across from Tony’s Finer Foods at Hamlin Ave., in Chicago, IL. We provide a light buffet with soda, tea & coffee; you can BYOB. On this Friday, Argentine Tony Costantino will DJ, with some recently recovered Canaro and D'Arienzo.
