Hello again, inviting you to Meet in the Middle, this time for New Year's Eve. I have asked Chas Gale and Gaia Banovich of Denver fame to give us some classes and perform a nice demonstration for a Grand Milonga. And if you have ever been to his Tango House, you'll know he's a great DJ, too. View them at www.thetangohouse.com

NEW: Against all my teachings and against all the grain of true social dancers who don't compete, I have also asked them to teach a beginning SHOW tango class. Keeping up with the TV craze, give them what they want, I say: Performing, demonstrating to their friends, competing. Even promoters need to advertise this way sometimes... And it'll be fun! I'll call it "Dancing with the Tango Stars."

Like the TV show, beginners pair with experienced dancers and will practice together and perform Sunday night. Or, you can take the show classes just for fun with or without a partner.

Come in Friday night and stay through Sunday night. Emphasis on a lot of dancing and socializing. All will be in the ballroom, and extra private lessons or private practices can be on the mezzanine.

Bonus: Michael Figart, our famous Tejas Milonguero, is giving us a few sets of ALTERATIVE tango music. He promises it will be danceable, danceable, danceable.

Meet in the Middle New Year's Eve Schedule 2006

Friday night Dec 29

7:00 pm. Class: "Technique for ALL LEVELS. Figures and Elements will be offered that are appropriate for every experience level in attendance. Your capacity to maintain a good connection during a variety of motions WILL be challenged REGARDLESS of the time you've spent in tango. This in fact is the definition of "technique". The reason every instructor worth his or her tango shoes wants to teach technique is because they know that everyone has room for improvement. They know in fact that technique is all there is to know about tango - that those (instructors AND students) who focus on patterns will never know the true joy of the tango. Tango-by-rote holds back not only the individual but can hold back an entire community. The common fallacy is "I've had that before." Or "I'm tired of just walking". The reality is that a sharp instructor can identify a seemingly minor issue that will change a person's tango radically. We provide coaching. We show easy, enjoyable, unique, musical and socially responsible figures as tools to expose where you need help no matter where you are in your tango development. EVERYONE belongs in this workshop! We hope you will look at this opportunity as a prerequisite for the subsequent workshops." --Chas and Gaia

Those performing in the "Dancing with the Tango Stars" must pick a partner with opposite skills and will probably want to stay with their partner in the class.
