I am pleased to announce that we will be having a weekend of Close Embrace workshops with Susana Miller on the weekend of August 11, 12, and 13th. The full details follow but I would just like to add that there will be a Milonga on Sat night but it is a regular event by a different organizer and not an 'official' part of this event.  In order to not conflict, we will not have a separate milonga but encourage event participants to attend the existing one. Susana Miller, from Buenos Aires, Argentina is the world's most renown teacher of Milonguero Style, Close Embrace Tango. Susana has been touring the USA, and the world, for many years to teach this very authentic form of Tango. She has really perfected the art of teaching this style of dancing. If you are planning to visit BsAs or any large Tango event, this is the style of Tango that you really need to be comfortable with. Susana will give you the fundamentals, the style, technique, musicality, and the advanced vocabulary to really feel confident, even dancing in the most crowded milongas.  This is her specialty, her love, and you can't find anyone better to learn from!
 
Milonguero Style Tango is the style developed in the crowded dance clubs of downtown Buenos Aires and is danced in a very close embrace. The focus of this style is on the connection with your partner and with the music, not on complicated patterns. It is not danced for show, rather for the shared experience between dance partners. There is a lot of focus on subtle, playful movements with very distinct rhythms, using steps that allow the dancers to create very compact choreographies. When the dance floor is very crowded, the best dancers can still dance, dancing literally in the space they can stand in without disturbing the other dancers around them.
