Not only is the entrance slightly wider, but it now has a window and the inside handle is a bar so </div><div class="">it should lock automatically.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">2) The gym now has air conditioning which makes the temperature much more pleasant.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">3) The gym wipes are being replaced. When put in they were erroneously taken out of their plastic which caused them to dry up.</div><div class="">Please continue to use the spray to wipe down machines after use. We worked hard to insure that it has modern </div><div class="">equipment to make up for the ventilation and heat which is still on the “to be repaired” list. In the meantime, I must</div><div class="">make sure everyone is aware of some key rules that are routinely not being followed and could negatively impact</div><div class="">the safety and experience of all users.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">Do not unlocked the gym doors.</b> This is a matter of security. Occasionally strangers enter the building searching</div><div class="">high and low for unlocked doors. Although not often, it happens enough that <b class="">gym doors</b> <b class="">must stay locked at all time</b>s. </div><div class="">All users must <b class="">use their MIT ID card to enter the gym for security reasons</b>.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">Return dumbbells and barbell weights </b>to their racks on the smith machine, bench press and back of leg press </div><div class="">after use. No one should have to search for weights needed or unload weights to use a machine. <b class="">We do not have </b></div><div class=""><b class="">gym maintenance people</b> so we have to maintain it for ourselves and the best way to do this is to make sure the </div><div class="">equipment you use is left ready for the next user.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">Do NOT move equipment</b>, particularly the treadmills. Not sure why that is happening but this is ruining our new tiles</div><div class="">on the floor. It is making them stick up and detach from one another which can be a <b class="">heath hazard </b>since someone can </div><div class="">fall because of it. If you must move the smaller benches, please return them to original spot to keep gym organized.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Please keep in mind, we do not have much common space for residents so it is on all of us to maintain it particularly</div><div class="">as its users increase. The goal is to <b class=""><i class="">leave a space better than you found it</i></b>, particularly in an older building, so they </div><div class="">remain safe and secure, well maintained and to reduce the time they have to be offline for repairs.
