Hi,

I'm just starting to use StarCluster and am a bit confused about the availability of different AMIs.

I would like to use an image based on Ubuntu 11.10 to minimise the difference between local and cloud platforms and see references to such images in many places on the web, in particular MinRK's documentation of his iPython plug-in. However when I run "starcluster listpublic" I can find no trace of them instead I get the following for us-east-1:

>>> Listing all public StarCluster images...

32bit Images:
-------------
[0] ami-8cf913e5 us-east-1 starcluster-base-ubuntu-10.04-x86-rc3
[1] ami-d1c42db8 us-east-1 starcluster-base-ubuntu-9.10-x86-rc8
while for us-west-1 gives this:

>>> Listing all public StarCluster images...

32bit Images:
-------------

64bit Images:
--------------

total images: 0

There is however an apparently suitable AMI listed in the cluster playground area of the site: ami-61b28015, but only in eu-west-1. The website only lists 6 AMIs, none Ubuntu 11.10, for us-east-1.

I will probably try ami-61b28015 but I would rather work on us-east-1 from the start. Also I don't know if there has been a problem with the recent Ubuntu releases that I should be aware of.

Any assistance or clarification gratefully received.
